The only way to know if you are exposed to radon is by testing your home's radon levels. There are no pressing symptoms that will alarm you to the presence of radon. It characteristically takes years of exposure before any problems surface.
Dangers of Radon
Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, however it may be in your home. The Surgeon General has cautioned that radon is the second top cause of lung cancer in the United States as of today.

Radon can enter the home from an enclosed area through the soil such as; a dirt basement or crawlspace. A cement floor in the basement can reduce radon gas access but only if the floor is solid, nonporous and crack-free. A water sump hole or drainage system can be a entryway for radon.
